- The Benedum Trees Building was called the Machesney Building until 1911 when it became the headquarters of the Benedum Trees Oil Company. The building was commissioned by Caroline Jones Machesney, the society hostess and daughter of a banker. Designed by Thomas H. Scott and built in 1905, the building stands at 19 stories tall.

- The Benedum Stage is the 3rd largest stage house in the country. It is 28 feet deep and 144 feet wide with 56 ft. by 56 ft. of performance area. Dancers from the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre chose the stage floor after testing 10 different flooring options. The troupe chose a Douglas fir flooring built on a series of neoprene (sponge-rubber) pads.

- Benedum Center History. Known today as the Benedum Center, the facility opened as the Stanley Theater on February 27, 1928. James Bly Clark, an early theater tycoon who assisted in the founding of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, financed the $3 million dollar project. The Stanley was billed as "Pittsburgh's Palace of Amusement."
