- Date of experience: October 2021. Castine is a wonderful, out of the way, off the main highway of Rt 1, harbor and town. Well worth the visit, and when in Castine, book a trip with Kayak Adventures. You get to enjoy a beautiful bay, and the surrounding islands and inlets. I took the 1:00-4:00 tour, terrific way. to spend the afternoon.
