- One of the sites of Gen. George Stoneman's raid in 1865, the Historic Carson House was commandeered as Union headquarters and troops camped on the property for several days. A small skirmish between Stoneman's Raiders and the Confederate home guard took place on the property on April 19, 1865, in one of the last skirmishes of the war.
